Does obsolete 22-year-old count as vintage? I bought a 1999 Cannondale Silk Path 500 for $25 Friday and worried I’d overpaid - NOTHING moved, But then I got it into the workshop and found that the Headshok still lives and the frozen headset was due to a failed sealed bearing - I have the $15 eBay replacement on its way. No pix of the finished work but I was able to fix the taco’ed rear wheel by loosening all the spokes, clamping the rim onto a vise and the alternately pulling and shoving with bare hands and a 3-foot length of pipe to get it close to right. In the end the final nasty bend required chocking the wheel upon on some large blocks and smacking the affected area with a rubber mallet. 30 minutes in the truing stand
and it’s like it was always straight and true. Now to wait for bearings and a chain …
