I started using gloves whenever handling fuel or battery acid after years of smelling like gas or diesel. I think diesel is harder to get rid of than gasoline. I use chain lube that has kerosene or diesel in it and I always glove up so I don't smell like that later.
Oh I forgot about those heat shrink connectors! So much easier than dragging a soldering iron out and forgetting to put heat shrink on before you make the joint.
