I'm almost 6'4 (32" waist) and had to get the XLG for comfortable shoulder straps that didn't feel like they were pulling me to the ground. The odd thing is, the Assos XLG FI Mille bibs are looser than the XLG S2 bibs-- by a decent amount. I need whatever size is in between those two...
