The wind has died down and I applied a coat of paint on the stays.
If you notice, I never use a hard edge to mask the area to be painted. I find it much easier to "blend the paint in using this type of masking.
I use the hard edge at the top and crumple up the paper at the blending side and spray down over the crumpled paper in order to create a more feathered paint edge...never spraying upwards.
This technique has helped me blend the paint in without a lot of sanding and polishing and often helps hide the fact that the paint is not an exact match of the well with metallics as well.
The trick is also to use light coats at first with no overspray and then to finish off with 2 or 3 heavier on to push the gloss levels up.
