Around here, itís the same except that pedestrians arenít allowed to step out ďsuddenlyĒ (or some such language) in front of traffic, so if the traffic flow is continuous, they donít ever have to yield, because you canít ever get into the crosswalk. At least thatís how the local police explained it.
