But, if the driver is under-the-influence and hits a cyclist who is riding in the middle of the lane; the cylist would be run-over and grinded up by the bottom of the car and get serious injury.
In all the studies of bicycle vs car I have read. The dreadful rear end collision is the least common one. Riding against traffic and at an intersection is #1 . When I looked at the video I was half expecting to see the motorist make a tight turn across the bicyclists path. After the bicyclist left the intersection and the motorist willingly stayed in the same lane position I am thinking that the motorist is an AH baby. The bicyclist is inviting the actions of the miscreant motorist behavior by lane position. I never ride in the door zone and never swoop in and out of the traffic lane at the intersection like the bicyclist did. This bicyclist is trying to hid from those big mean motor vehicles.
