I've bought components, tires, tubes, bar wrap, clothes & shoes prior to needing them (with shoes & clothes it's because I knew how they fit). I can't say that I've ever bought any electronic gadget or part in advance. I guess it's because my belief that the future whatever "it" is will be smaller, lighter, better and cheaper. I don't even wanna tell you what I paid for one the first IBM PC Juniors to hit town
