Second night back in the hammock I woke up bright eyed at 03:30. At 5 I gave in and made coffee and was asleep by 6. Re-awoke at 7:30, already too late to walk dogs and then ride. To paraphrase Vonnegut, So it goes.
I've been finding, of late, that when my thoughts won't let me go back to sleep, an infusion of coffee into the system releases the thoughts and allows sleep. I've been using this technique for years, for naps, but never made the connection to early mornings.
