I see many post about new to riding or haven't ridden in years and more often than not they are looking for the carbon models. Just seems like carbon gets pushed a lot on people when they go to LBS these days.
Been riding recreationally for over 55 years--no opinion on whether they're being pushed or not. I decided on my Elite Carbon before ever visiting my LBS because it's probably the last bike I'll ever buy and I wanted the lightest (with mods) and best bike for me that I could afford.
After seeing what carbon can do for fly rods and my photography gear, it just made sense.
