Well, you can always make an argument about extremes. In the car world, it's often bemused that hybrid drivers who drive fast don't get good gas mileage. Well, they probably get better mileage than if they were driving a regular car fast. I guess you can make the same corollary with bikes and weight, right? A light bike is heavier with bolt-ons. But it's lighter than a heavy bike with bolt-ons.
