I always say to start riding if it’s not raining. Half of the time it won’t even rain. Half of the time the time it rains it won’t really bother you.
Also you don’t need a lot of rain gear because you are going to get wet when it rains. Either from the rain or from sweat. Just have enough clothes on to keep from getting cold.
Be sure you have a dry bag for a change of clothes and for your sleeping gear. That’s important.
