I used to walk for a living (carrying mail ~ 7-9 miles/day) and I liked my shoes to stay tied tightly. Some styles of laces just don't like to stay tied, and I was not a fan of double-knotting those types that refused to stay tied. Round dress laces, and oval laces - nope. I can't tell you how many times that I've bought a new pair of shoes and changed the laces before I'd even wear them!
