What's the narrowest tire I could run on a Rhyno-Lite rim ?

I'm thinking about another set of Rhyno-Lite/XT wheels (29ers this time) , but this bike is more of a urban/road/metro unit, not an aggressive off-roader that'll see a lot of pounding or get a lot of lateral force applied.
The inside diameter of the Rhyno-Lites is 22mm, the outside is 27.5 (or so I've read). The current factory rims are a little narrower than the Rhynos, and have some 42mm tires on them, and I'm thinking I should try to stay close to that.
But, I don't mind going a couple mm's either way, if i can get away with it .
I'm currently shopping tire deals, and a lot of the better deals are for tires a little narrower than 42, so I'm just wondering what's the narrowest I could probably safely go ? Would 35mm be pushing it?
thanks......
