The cranks on that look kind of like the ones on my 1994 Nishiki hybrid. You might want to check out the recall forum and see if they are the infamous Shimano Death Cranks- they can crack at any time. If so, you can get them replaced for free by Shimano with cranks that don't look as cool but are less likely to fall apart on you. The recall kit includes a new bottom bracket, new cranks, new front derailleur and new chain.
