I replaced both wheels $10, chain ring $2, saddle $1, grips 50 cents, pedals $4, 2 Specialized Crossroads tires $2, chain $5 and added lights 50 cents, horn $2, an old camera bag as a front bag $1, and a bottle cage $1. Much more comfortable, rideable and safe, but, still slow and heavy with odd, squishy, squashy handling/steering. The Specialized Crossroads aren't suited for my riding style. $40.50 was worth the effort as I'm now up to 120km.
