Funny. I encountered the very same thing touring in rural VT last month. Funny thing was that the driver of a dump truck coming the other way felt compelled to point out that there was fresh gravel had just been put down. Gee. Thanks. I never would have noticed. I did have to walk a short stretch when the road tilted up.
