Got caught in a downpour for the third straight night last night, but at least it wasn't dark yet and I could navigate the potholes/puddles a little better.

I think having your life threatened (because that is what we are talking about in situations like this) is already enough to bring most people to the boiling point, and then a driver that will not recognize their mistake just makes it even worse. The problem is that most people that haven't ridden a bike or motorcycle usually can't comprehend why these situations create such an instinctual and adrenaline fueled anger.
