The only problem I ever encountered with a two wheeled recumbent was the handling at very slow speeds. If you are on a very crowded MUP that may be a problem. It was less so for me because the MUPs are rarely crowded and I used strapless toe clips instead of clip-in shoes, Slipping my feet off the pedals to stabilize the bike at very slow speeds was easy.
