I seem to have a knack for finding hard to date bikes but from what guys on the Raleigh forums said and looking at another owners blog I'm pretty well set on the 1977 date since the original paint doesn't match anything I can find on the Headbadge site and of course they're missing 1977.
Here's the blog of a guy that says he's owned his '77 SGP since new and it's a virtual twin to mine.
