Eastern Pennsylvania Randonneurs ran a 200 I'm brevet yesterday, a kind of figure 8 double loop starting at Lancaster.

Beautiful sunny day, but windy and cold. Much of the day was spent slogging into the wind. I had carefully put my hydration pack close to my skin so it wouldn't freeze, but even so the bite valve froze solid before the first stop. After a couple minutes indoors it thawed and started leaking like crazy, I guess damaged by being frozen. Totally useless, I tried drinking until it stopped, but it wouldn't stop, leaking on my pants and shoes. Not good in 25°f temperatures. At the 50 mile point I passed my car again, so I left the hydration pack there.

The temperature got up to 32°f for a little while, but i face was so chilled I couldn't use my mouth, couldn't chew anything... All in all this was a tough ride. Hands didn't warm up for over an hour after finishing. I'm ready for spring.
