Thanks. Cycle Oregon '07. Climbed the 13 miles from Diamond Lake, rode around the rim road, and then rode back down to Diamond Lake. 6,400' of climbing (topped 7,000' four times) in 47 miles as the last 13 were nearly all down hill.
The cool think is that I will be doing it again this summer. The GF and I got two of the coveted slots in Cycle Oregon this year. (More than 2,200 slots filled in less than 40 min.). We will be riding up from the south this time. Riders will have the option of looping the lake
twice. While it's a beautiful place, I am not that crazy.
Congrats on getting the two slots. That sounds like a once in a lifetime experience to share together. The photo is beautiful and for anyone that hasn’t seen it the water looks that blue in person if not more so. The combination of depth and volcanic ash and the altitude and clear skies, the only bit of the light spectrum that isn’t absorbed is that deep blue.
Keep this thread in mind after you do it this summer or start a new one. It would be great to hear about and see more photos.
Good luck on the climb and once around sounds like more than enough to me as well.
