Interesting. I sometimes buy jerseys, but never through a brick and mortar retailer. I've bought several vintage reproductions from China recently. The quality is surprisingly good, and the mesh fabric is nice and light for summer wear.
As for cotton tee shirts. No, I don't buy them. Ever. They seem to show up periodically as give away items. The few that I own are used when I'm painting or working on a car, or maybe for lawn work. I don't think that a tee shirt is fitting for a mature man to wear even around town. But that's just me.
Older ones I cut up for use as shop rags.
