I just want some exercise. I don't need to get anywhere most of the time. Also, controlling what I do is EASY. Controlling the rest of the world is nearly impossible or at the very least extremely difficult. I already have a full time job, I don't need any more thankless work.

I look at the world around me and see what it is all about. Then I structure my behavior accordingly. Sometimes I am willing to take risks and other times not. Riding my bike in traffic is not fun. It is sometimes necessary. Cycling for FUN in traffic is not necessary. So I can just let that be and do something else, including cycling indoors on a trainer and relax, let my mind zone out, watch TV, blare music, whatever I want with only a minuscule risk of being hit by a meteorite. No need to cower indoors at all. Nothing to fear there, just joy.
