If you look at the Trek Transport you can see that 2/3 thirds of the bags cargo space is behind the rear axle. Making the front end lighter as more weight you put in the bags. A design flaw in my opinion. I have a older Surly Big Dummy that has served me well over the years. The bag placement design is much better and carries the weight very well. But I still always put most weight to the front of the bags. It is also geared very well. I have towed many bikes and trailers a lot without an issue.
