That's counting wrong then. Two shifts. If you aren't changing two or three gears over, why even bother shifting?

Nope. Don't think it actually matters though; she got the interview in huge part because a few of her coworkers-to-be knew how effective she was, not because of her alma mater.
Of course it matters. The degree gets you to an interview. That's the point. It's used as shorthand for "this person has a good chance of fitting in."
