Been nearly 2 months, how is the recovery progressing? I remember putting a stool beside the trainer, also! My first big dilemma came on my first outdoor ride. I dismounted in town, forgetting about remounting, but was able to with the bike in the road and me standing up on the curb made it all good. Keep up the progress, it'll all come back to like before!
