Same, in fact, I keep a couple extra in the car for those negligent riders who show up to group rides missing one. I'd always heard of a rider crashing and being skewered by a bar end but never had seen it till a few years ago in a pro race on tv where a rider had a handlebar divot in his thigh. Somehow in the pile up of riders, someone lost a plug and then stabbed him. There was a pic on the web somewhere.
