There's a book called "Cycling with the Blue Moth" written by a guy named Bill Hancock. His son was killed in the Oklahoma State Basketball team plane crash, the book chronicles his depression after and his attempt to deal with it by riding his bicycle transcontinentally, supported only by his wife who followed in their camper. It's a really good read.
