As for e-bike unlove, they are banned from a good number of local single track trails. As a mtn biker too, I dont quite know how I feel about that, but it would sure make those long climbs a whole lot easier, plus can get in more downhill runs.

Not directed at you or your wife, but if someone isn't fit enough to work their way up a single track hill, they may not be likely to have the skills and experience needed for the safely riding the single track downhill. Not a perfect screening mechanism, but I can see the logic.
