I'm vegetarian so the kind I've had is made with vegetables, dill, maybe a little cream. Ukrainian descended.
Ah. You see, my ancestry is solid British Isles Mutt, but my Dad's family's from Pittsburgh, where there were a lot of Eastern European steelworkers, so our recipe for borscht is as I described. Not sure who exaclty my grandmother learned it from, though.
