It's no different than a "Like" button on any other social media site.
I understand social media and I know that people get a dopamine charge out of it, but "likes" and kudos and thumbs ups aren't really social interactions. It's almost anonymous when there are dozens or more, and it's not usually really approval for the ride or run. So I don't see what people objectively value from it.
