I never used a kickstand since I was a kit on a Columbia balloon-tired-bomber. Now a flick stand was a very nice invention, it was great for leaning a bike and a real treat on a bike stand. It prevented the dreaded wheel turn as your bike was leaning without a kickstand. Rhode Gear has some decent ideas. I still have a Rhode Gear bottle with the delrin wedge mount. Unfortunately sized for 1970s standard frame tubes only.
For riding and parking the bike, I lay it down or hook it over a bar and carry a velcro pants leg strap or toeclip strap looped through the spokes and triangle to keep the wheel pointed straight when leaning the bike when loaded with full bottles and handlebar bag.
Then again, it is important if what each person does works for them?
