The judge stuff doesn't appeal to me. I would never put myself in a position where I was sending people to prison or listening to divorces. Add a rigid schedule and docket and a ton of hours, especially in this county, and the job sucks. I couldn't do many of the things my family likes to do and I'm not wired to go home and feel good about standing in judgment.
I'll have my 20 in at about regular retirement time. Who knows how PERA will be come that time, but it's no different than SS, I suppose. Life is a crapshoot, so why should that be any different?
Interesting on the judgeship, and the hours. I would have thought it was more of a 9-5 type gig, but I've certainly never been on that side of the bench. At some point, sentencing on some people would be satisfying, but overall, I see your point.
