I stayed along the beach most the way but still live 45min inland.
It wasn't terrible heat along the water but crosswind/headwind took it's beating on me. I kept it at endurance pace and never got into higher speeds or higher Heart rates.
I drank 10 bottles, 6 was water, 4 gatoraids, 2 large cokes, 1 hot vanilla latte, 1 iced coffee slushy thing. Was still kinda dehydrated when I got home, and starving for solid food. I turned around at Pico Ave and 101, there is a nice coffee shop there.
