I noticed on my 30T ring that it was recessed on one side and, the gap was almost perfect. I had to reset the cable 3 times due to stretching. But, I finally got it. The one issue I did have problems with was shifting to the large cog on the freewheel when the front chainring was on the 52T. The chain kept pulling off but, I think I got it finally. I went to the bike shop in my area and, showed the mechanic what I was doing and, he said "those derailleures are ancient" lol!!! Thanks Hudson!!!
Good job getting it all to work!
It's great that you got the chain to work on the big/big. Experienced riders will tell you that may not be completely necessary, as that's not a cross-chain combo they would use anyway. However it's always nice when you can get any possible gear combo to function.
