26" wheels are fine. When the current fad for oversized 700c wheels has run its course, the industry will trot out 26" as new technology and everyone will have to get a new bike again.
In the mean time there are enough old rims to keep you rolling for a long time.
And some really excellent tires.
I had this frame custom made a few years ago so I could take advantage of Compass Rat Trap Pass tires (26 x 2.3). 4000 miles in 2018, though mostly randonneuring rather than touring.
But the world is not flat. I have to draw the line somewhere.
