That illustrates the largest remaining issue: cities building out the last bit of trailway at their city limits.

Arlington has the pretty River Legacy Trail that one day is supposed to be part of the Fort Worth to Dallas recreational path. Currently both ends run out in the woods and stop at the city limits! (You can see the eastern end of the Arlington trail from 360.) In an odd bit of geography/politics, Fort Worth is on either side of Arlington here, and current plans indicate these trail bits on the far eastern periphery of Panther City will be the last to be built, maybe complete in 2021.

Plano has some trailway that runs up to Allen city limits and stops, and several hundred meters away an Allen trail starts. Same thing between Richardson and Plano, Plano and Frisco, and Allen and McKinney. As of mid-2018, only a little bit of additional trail construction would link up a large network. Some of the missing links were scheduled to be complete by the end of 2016. Will it happen next year? In our lifetimes?
