I recently looked at these bikes as well. One thing you might want to check on the Giant is whether or not you will have room for fenders/wide tires - if you want to run them. If I recall the FCR bikes did not look like there was much room, particularly in the front.
I ended up buying a 7.3FX and am currently running it with Planet Bike Freddy Hardcore fenders and the stock 32mm tires.
