Assuming that they're radially laced, I'd sight down them, too, to make sure they're straight and pluck 'em. But yeah, I'd be surprised if there was a problem - with a front rim brake tire, the tension would be the same on both sides, so for it to stay true, both sides would need to be equally borked. Also, the bike isn't that heavy and falling down without a meatsack atop them usually isn't a problem, other than for something like an exposed derailleur.
