I was looking at the posts in this thread from 2007-2008. Lots of pioneers back then. I take my hat off to you all. Now, a duffer like me can spin a wrench and put together a bike.

Here's my first build from last summer. It's a 1990 chrome-moly steel Trek 850 with a 500W 36 volt geared rear hub. Weighs 51 pounds and tops out at 20 mph. Mostly run at 12-15 mph in PAS 1. Not too expensive. Motor and battery under $500 from ebay. Pedals easy and I like it. Will be adding a suspension fork to the front this summer.

I just got this one running over the weekend. 750W BBS02 on a 2001 alloy Diamondback. Weighs 53 pounds. Good grief, speedometer says it runs 30+ mph, but I only cruise at 15 in PAS 2 (using 9 levels). Going to put in new freewheel and chain to alleviate some slip issues (which I had before i added the motor). My Luna Dolphin didn't fit the frame, so it's in the bag. A better look, anyway.
