yeah i definitely think (perceived) craftsmanship is at the heart of a lot of division in art and a strong basis for the whole, "that's not art because my 5 year old could do that" nonsense argument. that's why i mentioned the context being important, it's not strictly about technical skill, it's often a concept based on society at the time of it's original creation.
in warhol's case, i don't think craftsmanship was really his primary concern. he wanted to replicate the mass production of media using similar techniques within his art.
