I just bought a Roll and put over `100 miles on it in a little over a week. It's really a super fun bike to ride and to me it feels lighter overall than my Specialized Crosstrail did. My buddy just bought a Verve 3 3 days ago and it's upright but not as much as the Roll. I think your wife would really like the Roll as it's really comfortable and the larger tires make for a really nice ride overall and I don't (at least to me) lose any efficiency or speed. I don't think you will go wrong with getting the Roll.
