New wheelset with Shimano hubs , 700x40c Michelin ProTec tires , and tubes of course . Replaced the old 12-28 cassette with a Shimano 11-32 eight speed cassette , new Shimano Acera derailleur, new KMC chain , different stem with new riser bars and grips . New shifters and brake levers, for the switch over to Shimano V-Brakes from cantilever. All new cables .
About all that’s original is the frame with bottom bracket with cranks and the seatpost.
The pedals are original and are stuck pretty good . I hope to swap them out for some lightweight platforms .
Rides great . Shifts like butter .
I’ve done a lot of similar work on my early 90’s Schwinn Crisscross except it has old wheels . I may spring for a new set of wheels for it next month . Although they ride straight and true .
Both frames are Chrome Moly and the bikes are fairly light compared to everything else I own . I think around 27-28 lbs . Never weighed them , but that’s what I’ve read in the Schwinn Spec sheet .
