Hope to see a thread about a new PDX Vintage ride soon!
That would be, uh, July, August, and maybe September. I can vouch for the fact that it never rains in California (SoCal, to be precise), having matriculated at Occidental College in '77, so very close to Pasadena. So it's hard to have a sustained monthly event when you can't count on good weather. Also please note that the population you draw from in SoCal is at least 10X what it is in Portland.

We do have Bob Freeman's annual vintage bike ride and show, his vintage bike porn cannot be beat anywhere. I've put on a Ride Wrench and Grill a couple of times with a good turnout. Pedalpalooza is a sustained month of bicycle related events. These are things I don't see happening in SoCal. So it's just different, but we do get together.

The monthly Pasadena ride is a unique event. When I retire from my day job in a few years I plan on trying to make it down every once in awhile!
