I was commenting on how flat it is in my area. 50x21 is the most I use in my area.
Today's ride - 55 miles with 4000 feet of climbing - included a 3.2 mile climb with an average grade over 7% and some pitches >10%, followed by a 4 mile descent with an average grade of 6%, so I used everything from 52x11 to 36x34.
