A couple of years ago on my birthday ride (I ride my age in miles) I passed a parked car on a gravel road and waved as I went by. On the return route, there were 2 county deputies there at the car. The tires were gone, the windows broken and it had been torched. Obviously several hours before I passed by earlier.
Sometimes you just look straight ahead and keep pedaling.
Yup, I ride gravel backroads and I know one of these times I will ride on a crime in process and being on my gravel bike I’m vulnerable. Not trying to start a debate but I’m in Texas so I have defense. Everybody does so confrontation is minimization it’s more like. “ Oh **** we got caught or spotted let’s get the heck out of here” Luckily I have never faced that situation and if I never do that will be great. Like you have stated just be aware of the environment around you and 99.9% of time you will have a great ride.
