The other significant factor that needs to be considered is the actually road safety in whichever destination is chosen.

Sadly, the road accident death toll in two states at least is almost double what it was to the same time last year, including some cyclists, and that has let to major conferences to find ways to overcome the number that is similar to that recorded in the 1970s.

The biggest capital city, Sydney, is a place where I virtually refuse to cycle. Even in Hobart which is capital of my home state, people we know are dropping out of cycling because the road driver attitude is making it unsafe -- this is in contrast to the northern part of the island state.
