My cure may or may not work for someone else, but I hope it does.
I've had gout since I was in my early 30s (I'm in my mid-50s now), but have had few/no symptoms for about 8-9 years now. I'm allergic to Allopurinol (found out the hard way, ended up in the ER 2x). From my early 30s until my mid-40s it got progressively worse, until I was taking a prednisone taper 4x/year, used a cane 3 days/month, and couldn't drink alcohol or eat meat or cheese! While I was in Suriname a colleague took me to a naturopathic doc. The doc prescribed lots of hokum designed to sell herbal pills, vitamins, etc. But the one thing that has worked miracles was his prescription to buy and drink STINGING NETTLE TEA loose leaves and drink 2x/day. You can buy a 1LB bag on Amazon for about $20, will last 3-4 months. I also take 80mg Uloric (febuxostat)/day. The tea helps and the Uloric help, but neither stops symptoms entirely. But together they have kept me almost 100% symptom-free since 2010. I can drink whiskey, eat steak, cheese, etc. My rheumatologist says she doesn't understand it fully, but the tophi deposits in my finger joints have actually steadily dissolved over the past few years.
