Have you measured the chainline at the chainrings? If you take a measurement, it will help to determine how far you want to bring the chainrings out. Typical road chainline with 130mm dropout is 43.5mm. I have mine at 44mm, with 7.6mm spacing center-to-center between the chainrings, although the spacing can go up to 8mm. You can add spacers under the right side BB to push it to the right a little bit, but not to the left. You might want to also check whether or not the left and right crank arms are symmetric, so you can decide if spacing or longer spindle works better for you. JIS square taper BB is sometimes not symmetric. I don't know if octalink has this issue.
