​​​​​​...not $3 by any means, but a second bracket/base allows swapping between my two bikes instantly. If you have a similar need, might be worth checking out.
Effort not at all denigrated, I have 2 bikes and the one pictured with the hack is my 2nd bike. I’m seeing it as a cheap opportunity to test the waters for a handlebar bag long-term. I’ve generally used a backpack and or/rack and pannier. A handlebar bag a little smaller than this camera bag even would suffice for most of the trips I currently make by bike.
